Minister Väyrynen: The recession weakens financiers’ commitments to climate efforts

Difficult negotiations are ahead, nor are the negotiations made any easier by the economic recession many countries are now experiencing. “One of the biggest questions at the conference in Copenhagen is the level of financing for work to mitigate climate change,” Minister Väyrynen explains.

World Summit on Food Security launched in Rome

FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, is organising the World Summit on Food Security in Rome on 16–18 November. The Summit’s foremost goal is to define measures to eradicate hunger sustainably and to reduce undernourishment. It is estimated that, at present, more than one billion people suffer from hunger.
