New Ambassadors to The Hague, Reykjavik and Tallinn
At the presidential session on Friday 9 March, the President of the Republic decided to appoint new Ambassadors to The Hague, Reykjavik and Tallinn. The President of the Republic also decided about a side-accreditation to Panama.
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Päivi Kaukoranta was appointed to serve as Head of the Embassy of Finland in The Hague from 1 October 2018.
Kaukoranta will transfer to The Hague from the Ministry where she has been Director General of the Legal Service since 2009. Previously she has worked, for example as Director of Unit in the Legal Department, Legislative Counsellor in the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU, and Ministerial Adviser in the Government Secretariat for EU Affairs.
Kaukoranta joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1989.
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Ann-Sofie Stude was appointed to serve as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Reykjavik from 1 September 2018.
Stude is currently Coordinator in the Unit for UN and General Global Affairs, where she is responsible for women, peace and security matters.
In addition to positions in the Political Department of the Ministry, she has served for example in the Secretariat for Nordic Cooperation and in the Department for Development Policy.
Her career in the Diplomatic Service includes positions in Washington and the Permanent Mission of Finland to the UN, for example.
Stude joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1992.
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Timo Kantola was appointed to serve as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Tallinn from 1 September 2018.
Kantola will transfer to Tallinn from the Ministry where he has been Deputy Director General of the Political Department since 2013.
Kantola has previously served as Head of the Permanent Mission of Finland to the OSCE in Vienna.
He has also worked as Director of the Unit for Security Policy in the Ministry and held positions in Finland’s Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels and the Embassy in Ankara.
Kantola joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1988.
The President of the Republic decided to authorise Ambassador Jarmo Kuuttila to represent Finland also in Panama.
