Exploratory study on Myanmar peace process

Description

Myanmar has suffered from ethnic conflicts since its independence in 1948. In October 2015, a Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement was signed between the Government and 8 ethnic armed organizations, but number of armed groups remain outside the Agreement. Not much progress has been made in the peace process despite efforts of the State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi. The overall objective of the project is to assess the possibilities to support inclusive and negotiated solutions to the issues underlying and sustaining the conflict logic in Myanmar. The project also assesses the complementarity of possible activities with the existing Finnish funded peace process support.
