Minister Mykkänen and Team Finland to visit Germany
Press release 234/2016
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Kai Mykkänen will lead a Team Finland trade mission to Germany on 12–14 December. Minister Mykkänen and the accompanying business delegation will visit Berlin and Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg. In Berlin, the focus will be on bioeconomy and music exports and in Stuttgart on the industrial internet and digitalisation.
Germany is Finland’s biggest trading partner and an important export destination. The aim of the visit is to improve the awareness of Finland in Germany, especially in the areas of bioeconomy and the industrial economy. In addition to company visits, Minister Mykkänen will meet the German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel. He will also have meetings at the Bundestag and the federal administration of Baden-Württemberg.
Baden-Württemberg, and the capital city Stuttgart, are among Germany’s most important industrial regions. Baden-Württemberg is particularly strong in exports. Berlin, for its part, is renowned for its innovative start-ups and the creative economy.
Minister Mykkänen will attend a Music Finland event in Berlin. At the beginning of 2015, Music Finland launched a key project “Aus Finnland” targeting the German speaking regions of Europe. It is the largest internationalisation project for Finnish music ever undertaken.
The visit is organised together with Finpro, which is part of Team Finland.
