Minister for Foreign Affairs Soini visits Chile and Brazil

Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini will visit Chile with a business delegation on 8–11 August 2016. During his visit, Minister Soini will meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile Heraldo Muñoz and many other Chilean ministers in the country's capital, Santiage de Chile.
The topics on the agenda of the foreign ministers' meeting include bilateral relations, cooperation between the countries, new cooperation initiatives, commercial issues including relations between the European Union and Chile, current political issues in Europe and Latin America, and questions related to the United Nations.
The business delegation participating in Minister Soini's visit will include 11 companies in the fields of education, bioenergy and cleantech. On Tuesday, 9 August, Minister Soini will open a bioenergy seminar, where Finnish companies will present their know-how.
In addition to ministerial meetings, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of bioenergy will be signed during the visit. Minister Soini will also take part in several business delegation meetings and visit two universities.
From Chile Minister Soini will continue to Brazil, where he will meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil José Serra in the country's capital, Brasília. The topics on the agenda include bilateral relations, relations between the European Union and Brazil, current political issues in Europe and Latin America, free trade negotiations between the European Union and the Mercosur trade area, and issues related to the United Nations.
From the capital Brasília Minister Soini will travel to Rio de Janeiro, where he will open the Rio Finland House, which presents Finnish cleantech and educational know-how, on 12 August. Minister Soini will also follow the Olympic Games. Finland House in Rio is a meeting place for athletes, olympic games visitors, businesses and media and is built in cooperation with the National Olympic Committee of Finland, Finnish businesses, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Ministry of Education and Culture, Finpro, and Embassy of Finland in Brazil.
The business delegation visiting Chile will include the following companies and their representatives: Aquaminerals Finland Oy Ltd, Cimson Oy/NEBA, Dramaforum Oy, Ekokem Limited, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, Oilon, Renewa Oy, St1 Biofuels Oy, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, University of Oulu, and Valmet Techologies Oy.
