Business visit to Uzbekistan in autumn 2016
A business visit to Uzbekistan is being planned for the autumn of 2016. The visit to Central Asia, scheduled to take place in early November, will be led by Roving Ambassador for Central Asia Niklas Lindqvist.
The visit will provide an excellent opportunity for establishing direct relations with potential Uzbek partners that are mostly state actors. Visa arrangements will also be easier in connection with a group visit. A popular local consultancy organisation will take responsibility for arrangements related to the visit and meetings in the country.
In 2015, the overall trade between Finland and Uzbekistan was about EUR 16 million, which shows that there is room for growth. Finland's export consists mainly of machines, chemicals, electronic devices and milk and diary products. Finland's main imports from Uzbekistan consist of fruit and vegetables. The programme of the business visit will be prepared in more detail based on the accompanying Finnish companies' targets of interest. In Uzbekistan, people appreciate especially the high quality of Finnish products.
Low prices of oil and gas and Russia's weak rouble influence Uzbekistan's economy. However, the World Bank's growth forecast for Uzbekistan is 5.0 per cent in 2016 and 5.5 per cent in 2017.
Companies interested in the visit are kindly requested to contact Irina Ambrosin, Attaché to the Roving Ambassador, no later than 1 September 2016. The programme and dates of the visit will be specified on the basis of the results of the survey of interested participants.
