New Head of Mission to Ankara and to Geneva
At the presidential session on Friday 29 April, the President of the Republic decided to appoint a new Head of Mission to Ankara and to Geneva. They will assume their functions on 1 September 2016.
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Päivi Kairamo was appointed to serve as Head of the Finnish Mission in Ankara, Turkey.
Kairamo will transfer to Ankara from Geneva where she has served as Head of Mission since 2012.
She has previously worked as Secretary General and Adviser in foreign policy matters at the Office of the President of the Republic.
She has also worked, among other things, at the European Commission and the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union.
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Terhi Hakala was appointed to serve as Head of the Permanent Mission of Finland in Geneva.
She is currently Director General of the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
She has also served, for example, as the Ambassador of Finland to India and Head of the OSCE Mission to Georgia and Finland's Roving Ambassador to the South Caucasus.
Hakala joined the Ministry in 1988.
