Report on financing of Barents cooperation released
Finland has chaired the Barents Euro-Arctic Council from 2013 to 2015. An extensive study of the financing of Barents cooperation has been prepared under Finland's leadership. Both financiers and project implementers were heard during the study period.
"There are plenty of sources of financing, but the needs and financing do not always match," the Barents Ambassador Marja-Leena Vuorenpää says.
The Working Group recommends that information about the existing financing opportunities should be enhanced and the current financing instruments developed to better match the needs of also small project implementers. A new financial mechanism in the Barents Region is not considered justifiable at the moment.
