Marjaana Sall appointed as EU Ambassador to the Republic of Mauritius
EU High Representative Federica Mogherini has appointed Marjaana Sall to serve as the EU Ambassador to the Republic of Mauritius. The four-year term will start at the beginning of September.
For the past four years, Sall has worked in the EU Kenya Delegation, the last few months as Deputy Head of Delegation.
She has also worked, for example, in the Permanent Mission of Finland to the UN in New York and as Deputy Head of the Finnish Mission in Indonesia and South Africa. Sall joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1997.
The Head of the EU Mission in Mauritius is also responsible for the EU's relations with the Republic of Seychelles and the Union of the Comoros as well as for the EU's cooperation with the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC).
"My main goal is to promote political and economic cooperation between the EU and the countries in question in national, regional and global matters. Safeguarding maritime transport in the Indian Ocean and climate change issues are examples of the questions in which we can work together," Sall says.
Marjaana Sall is the first Finnish woman that has been appointed as an EU Ambassador.
