New Ambassador to Nairobi and side accreditation to Iraq
On Friday 8 May, the President of the Republic appointed Counsellor Tarja Fernández as Head of the Finnish Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya as of 1 September 2015.
At the moment, Fernández serves as European Correspondent and Director of the Unit for European Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP).
Earlier, Fernández has worked as interim chargé d’affaires in the Finnish embassy in Pristina, in the Permanent Representation of Finland in New York, and in the Finnish embassies in Stockholm and Tel Aviv. She has also worked in the Department for Development Cooperation and Political Department in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Fernández has been employed by the Ministry since 1994.
The President of the Republic also granted Ambassador Matti Lassila, Head of the Finnish Embassy in Beirut, a side accreditation to Iraq.
