Press Release 87/2015
20 March 2015

Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Trade Lenita Toivakka will lead a business delegation on a Team Finland trade mission to Mexico from 23 to 24 March in order to promote Finnish maritime industry and ICT and education sector exports in the growing markets of Mexico. Minister Toivakka will move to Mexico from the United States where she is currently on a trade mission with a business delegation to promote Finnish cleantech expertise.

Mexico is carrying out a historic reform programme, the most significant elements of which concern reforms in the energy and telecommunications sectors and dismantling of monopolies. Harbours and a country-wide 4G network, for example, will be built in Mexico.

"The opening of the Mexican energy and telecommunications sectors offers major opportunities for Finnish companies. In addition, Finnish education has a good reputation in the country. The purpose of the trip is to make the most of this potential," Minister Toivakka says.

During the visit, Minister Toivakka will meet with several Ministers and significant Mexican business leaders. The Minister will be accompanied by a delegation of nearly 30 Finnish companies.

The delegation has been compiled by Finpro, which is part of Team Finland, and it consists of the following enterprises: Aboa Mare, Allstars Engineering Group, Arctia Shipping Ltd, Cadmatic Oy, Deltamarin Ltd, Finnpilot Pilotage Oy, Frictape Net Oy, Oy Halton Group Ltd, Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd, Paroc Oy Ab, Pemamek Oy, Trafotek Oy, Wärtsilä Corporation, Comptel Corporation, Conmio Oy, Exel Composites plc, Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority, Nestor Cables Oy, Nokia Corporation, Qvantel Finland Oy, Roidu Oy, Tecnotree Corporation, People Group Academy Oy, Rovio Entertainment Ltd, Sanoma Learning/Grammata, Sanoma Learning/YDP, Team Action Zone, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd.
