New Ambassador to the Permanent Representation of Finland to the Council of Europe and side accreditation to Venezuela
The Government decided on 5 February to propose that the President of the Republic appoint Counsellor of Foreign Affairs Satu Mattila-Budich to the post of Head of the Permanent Representation to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France as from 1 September 2015.
Mattila-Budich is currently working as Senior Expert at the Embassy of Finland in Riga. Prior to this, she served as Desk Officer for the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and also as Chairman during the Finnish Presidency. In 2007–2011, she was Head of the Embassy of Finland in Singapore.
Mattila-Budich has been posted to the Finnish Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva and New York and the embassies in New Delhi, Washington D.C. and in Tokyo, where she also served as Minister Counsellor. At the Ministry Mattila-Budich has worked in the Protocol Department and the Political Department. In 2001–2004 she was Director of the Unit for Northern Dimension of the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Mattila-Budich came to the employ of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1983.
In addition, the Government also decided during the same session to propose that the President of the Republic grant Ambassador Mika-Markus Leinonen, Head of the Embassy of Finland to Chile, side accreditation to Venezuela.
