Foreign Minister Tuomioja to participate in the OSCE security policy event Security Days in Vienna

Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will participate in the Security Days event, organised by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna on 27 May. The themes of the event are current security challenges and the role of regional security organisations in mediation.Finland has been active in promoting strengthening of mediation within the OSCE. In spring 2014, Finland collaborated with Switzerland, the current holder of the OSCE Presidency, and Turkey to establish the Group of Friends of Mediation in the OSCE. The purpose of the group is to act as an informal discussion forum, to enhance the mediation capacity within the OSCE, and to bring together expertise and best practices.
In connection with his visit to Vienna, Foreign Minister Tuomioja will also give a speech at the public event addressing the situation in Ukraine arranged by the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna under the heading “Ukraine – Europe at the Crossroads?”
In Vienna, Minister Tuomioja will have bilateral talks with both Secretary General of the OSCE Lamberto Zannier and Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz
