New ambassadors to Indonesia and the Czech Republic
The President of the Republic appointed on 28 March the following new ambassadors:
Counsellor of Foreign Affairs Päivi Hiltunen-Toivio to the post of the Head of the Embassy of Finland in Jakarta, Indonesia, as from 15 August 2014.At the moment, Hiltunen-Toivio acts as Finland’s Ambassador in Prague, the Czech Republic. She has also served as Finland’s Consul General in Shanghai, and held various positions in the Embassy of Finland in Paris and Finland’s Permanent Representation in the European Union in Brussels.
In Finland, Hiltunen-Toivio has served in various EU-related tasks, such as Deputy Secretary General of the Secretariat for the Finnish Presidency of the EU at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Head of the Unit for EU Enlargement of the Department for Europe, and Special Adviser on EU Affairs in the Prime Minister’s Office. Hiltunen-Toivio has also experience from the Political Department, the Department for Trade Policy, the Department for Legal Affairs and the Protocol Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.Hiltunen-Toivio entered the Ministry for Foreign Affairs service in 1979.
Counsellor of Foreign Affairs Helena Tuuri to the post of the Head of the Embassy of Finland in Prague, the Czech Republic, as from 15 August 2014.Tuuri will transfer to Prague from the Department for Africa and the Middle East of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, which she has been heading since 2008. She has also experience from the Department for Trade Policy, the Department for Legal Affairs and Department for Development Cooperation at the Ministry. Tuuri has also worked at the Prime Minister's Office as Deputy Head of the Government Secretariat for EU Affairs and as the Prime Minister's adviser on EU affairs, and as Committee Counsel in the Grand Committee of the Parliament of Finland.
At Finnish missions abroad, Tuuri has worked at the Embassy of Paris and Finland’s Permanent Representation in the European Union in Brussels.Tuuri began her diplomatic career at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1987.
