Minister Heidi Hautala set to attend Delhi Sustainable Development Summit

Minister for International Development Heidi Hautala will be attending the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit in India on 2–5 February. She is travelling as a member of the delegation of President of the Republic Tarja Halonen.
In Delhi Minister Hautala will meet with Indian colleagues and the President of Kiribati to discuss current development policy issues. Minister Hautala will also hold discussions with representatives of Finnish clean technology businesses.
On the final day of her visit Minister for International Development Heidi Hautala will attend a civil society meeting organized by the Finnish Embassy. There, she will meet representatives of Indian NGOs to discuss issues of sustainable development, the reduction of poverty and corruption and food security.
The summit is organized by the Indian Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), whose Director General is Nobel Laureate Dr. R.K. Pachauri. The Delhi Summit has emerged as an important international discussion forum for political leaders, researchers and representatives of international organizations and businesses.
