Foreign Minister Luis Almagro of Uruguay to visit Finland

Foreign Minister Luis Almagro of Uruguay will be visiting Finland on 6–9 October. He will be accompanied by Uruguay’s Minister of Housing, Land Use, and Environment and Deputy Minister of Education and Culture, and also by a business delegation that includes representatives of companies from sectors such as the forest industry, information technology, logistics, environmental technology, construction, banking and insurance.
During his visit, Foreign Minister Almagro will meet with Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb. Discussions will focus on bilateral relations between the two countries and will also deal with, for instance, regional development in Latin America and affairs between the European Union and Latin America.
The topics on the agenda of the meeting with Under-Secretary of State Esko Hamilo include the WTO Doha negotiations and the EU–Mercosur association negotiations as well as environmental and forestry issues.
Also on the programme is a meeting with Minister Jyri Häkämies, who is responsible for ownership steering of State holdings, and a visit to the Finnish Parliament. In addition, Foreign Minister Almagro will participate in a networking event on trade relations between Uruguay and Finland and in a seminar presenting Finnish universities, and he will make visits to Finnish companies.
