Foreign Minister Milan Roćen of Montenegro and Foreign Minister Stubb discussed the Western Balkan situation
Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb met with Foreign Minister Milan Roćen of Montenegro in Finland on 23 June. Aside from bilateral relations between Finland and Montenegro, the ministers discussed Montenegro’s rapprochement with the EU and topical issues pertaining to the Western Balkans region.
Foreign Minister Stubb stressed that Finland strongly supports Montenegro’s efforts to gain membership of the EU. Stubb gave recognition for Montenegro’s constructive efforts in the Western Balkans. Stubb also encouraged Montenegro to attract additional foreign investments to the country and to build a competitive edge and country brand grounded especially in tourism.
Foreign Minister Roćen thanked Finland for the support received particularly in rapprochement with the EU and said that the ministers had discussed reinforcement of bilateral relations between Finland and Montenegro, as there is potential especially in the field of trade relations.
During his visit Foreign Minister Roćen also met with Deputy Speaker of Parliament Seppo Kääriäinen and MP Erkki Tuomioja, Chair of the Grand Committee of Parliament.
