As yet no Finnish victims in the Italian earthquake

According to information available at present, there were no Finnish victims in the earthquake that occurred early this morning in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, in and around the town of L’Aquila.
Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb was in touch with his Italian colleague, Foreign Minister Franco Frattini, this morning and conveyed his condolences. Stubb expressed his deep sympathy to the earthquake victims and their families. Among others, the EU has offered Italy assistance with the rescue efforts.
According to the Finnish Emabssy in Rome, there are some Finns living in the immediately affected area, but otherwise there are no residential or tourist areas particularly popular among Finns. The Embassy has been in contact with the Finns known to be living in the area. Everyone reached is fine. The Embassy is continuing its work to contact Finns.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs recommends that any Finns possibly in the Abruzzo area who have not been contacted by the foreign mission should themselves get in touch the Finnish Embassy in Rome.
