
The Foreign Correspondents' Programme is a media training programme for young journalists arranged by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. During the four-week programme the participants will gain a broad perspective on Finnish society, politics, history, economy and culture.
In August 2011, for the Foreign Correspondents’ Programme (FCP) in Finland, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs invited applications from citizens of the following countries:
Armenia, Brazil, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, India, Japan, Germany, Poland, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, The United Kingdom and The United States.
The programme provided an excellent opportunity to learn more about Finland, Finnish society and the Finnish way of life. It also offered the means to enhance the professional skills, as well as expanding the network of the professional colleagues and international friends.
The programme started on August 1st and ended on August 26th, 2011. It included: briefings on Finland today; meetings with professionals, politicians and people; visits to business enterprises, cultural sites and institutions. It included a weekend as a guest of a Finnish family, as well as visits to different parts of Finland.
During the programme the participants had the opportunity to cover additional aspects of Finland in which they had a particular interest. They also had access to working facilities with PCs, internet, telephone, printers and copiers at the International Press Centre.
The scholarship covered the costs of travel to and from Finland, local travel in Helsinki, accommodation in a single room in a student residence and the daily programme including meals, events, transportation and lodging. The programme did not cover medical insurance or per diem allowance.
